INEC Lifts Ban on Political Campaigns

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Monday approved the resumption of political campaign activities ahead of Saturday, February 23rd, 2019 rescheduled elections.

This was revealed in a statement on the Commission’s verified Twitter handle, and signed by INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye.

He said the Commission after consulting political parties, has approved and lifted campaign ban by parties and candidates adding that they resume forthwith to end by midnight of Thursday, 21st February, 2019.”

Mr. Okoye also reminded Nigerians that the postponed Presidential and National Assembly elections earlier scheduled for February 16 over logistics challenges will hold on February 23 while Governorship and State Assembly elections holds March 9.
