Dogged woman leader and Founder of Uju Charity and Empowerment Initiative, Ambassador Chika Uju, has commended Nigerians for their resilience, steadfastness and continued faith in God despite the economic, social and security challenges confronting the country.

Uju, in her Independence Day message to Nigerians, urged citizens to remain hopeful, focused and united in the collective pursuit of a better Nigeria, particularly for children and generations yet unborn.

She praised Nigerians for holding firmly unto God and continuing to look forward to a better tomorrow despite hardship, insecurity and other difficulties affecting families across the country.

According to her, Nigeria’s Independence anniversary should provide another opportunity for leaders and citizens to reflect on the state of the nation and renew their commitment to peace, justice, unity and national development.

“Nigerians have remained steadfast, holding unto the Lord and looking forward to a better tomorrow and a better Nigeria, especially for our children and generations to come.

“We must remain focused and continue to promote oneness, unity and peace across the country. We must shun vices and actions capable of creating divisions or threatening the peaceful coexistence of our people,” Uju said.

The women and youth empowerment advocate also called on the Federal Government to revisit the issue concerning Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, urging the authorities to consider his release in the interest of peace and national reconciliation.

Uju equally called for decisive action against insecurity, stressing that those responsible for killings, kidnappings and other criminal activities should be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

She expressed concern over the devastation caused by flooding in affected communities, saying families who lost homes, businesses, farmlands and other properties deserved urgent intervention and adequate compensation.

The Uju Charity and Empowerment Initiative founder also called for greater attention to the welfare of lecturers, teachers and civil servants.

She said lecturers and other workers should be paid as and when due, while deserving civil servants should receive their promotions and other legitimate benefits without unnecessary delay.

Uju also questioned the wide disparity between the remuneration of political office holders and teachers, maintaining that those entrusted with educating and moulding future generations deserve better recognition and improved welfare.

She identified youth unemployment as another major challenge requiring urgent attention and called for increased job creation, skills development and sustainable empowerment programmes for young Nigerians.

According to her, meaningful youth engagement would help reduce unemployment, crime and social unrest while enabling young people to contribute productively to national development.

She further called for improved roads, functional health centres, industries and other basic infrastructure capable of stimulating economic growth and improving the living conditions of Nigerians.

Uju urged political leaders and public office holders to place the welfare of the people above personal interests and ensure that government policies translate into meaningful improvements in the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

She maintained that Nigerians deserve a country where justice, security, employment opportunities and basic amenities are available to all, irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences.

“As we celebrate our Independence, we must keep believing and working towards the Nigeria we want for our children and generations to come.

“We need peace, justice, security, jobs, empowerment and development. Our leaders must also demonstrate sincerity and commitment to the welfare of the people,” she stated.

Ambassador Uju wished Nigerians a peaceful Independence celebration, expressing optimism that with faith in God, unity of purpose and responsible leadership, the country could overcome its challenges and build a stronger future.
