Imo West: OPOCA Gives Ex-Gov Okorocha 48hours Ultimatum To Apologize to Imo Govt, Imolites Or Loose Senate Seat
ThankGod Emeh, OWERRI.
The Orlu Political Consultative Assembly, OPOCA; a frontline nonpartisan political organization in Orlu, Imo state has threatened to recall the former governor of the state and current senator representing the zone (Imo West senatorial district of the state), Owelle Rochas Okorocha if he fails to apologize to the state governor Hope Uzodimma and Imolites over his faceoff with officials of the government on Sunday February 20, 2021 at Royal Spring Palm Apartment” along Akachi road Owerri.
The National President of OPOCA, who doubles as the commissioner for Transport in the Shared Prosperity administration of the state, Barr Rex Anunobi (Sokom), gave the warning in a press conference organised by the leadership of the Assembly at Imo Press Centre, Owerri on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

The Assembly warned that if Senator Okorocha fails to apologize to the state governor, Hope Uzodimma as well as Imo people within 48 hours, it will initiate a recall process against him adding that they “have taken time to observe the conduct of Senator Okorocha since he vacated office and particularly the event of Sunday February 21 where the former governor alarmingly took laws into his hands” to open and reclaim a property allegedly owned by his wife but sealed by the state government.
“OPOCA after an extra-ordinary emergency meeting is therefore using this medium to give the former Governor and Senator representing Imo West in the National Assembly, Owelle Rochas Ethelbert Anayo Okorcha 48 hours from today (Tuesday February 23,2021) to apologize to Governor Hope Uzodlmma, the Shared Prosperity Governor and Imo people for the shame his recent but uncivilized action has brought to the State”

“If after 48 hours Okorocha falls to apologise to our Governor and Imo people, OPOCA will be left with no option but to initiate a Recall Process that will aim at exiting Rochas Ethelbert Anayo Okorocha from the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”
The leadership of OPOCA while fielding questions from newsmen on the basis of their intended recall action against the senator said the Assembly is a renowned political arm of the good people of Orlu zone geared towards fighting and upholding the interest of the zone as well as disciplining and sanctioning erring politicians of the area in a bid to sanitize the political atmosphere of the zone hence their stance on the matter involving two Orlu sons.
“We wish to state categorically without fear of contradiction that OPOCA has overtime and in strict pursuance of its sacred but core mandate of protecting without compromise the individual and collective political interest of Orlu sons and daughters both home and in Diaspora”
“It is therefore in view of the foregoing that OPOCA rises to condemn in strong terms the brigandage, thuggery, hooliganism and lawlessness criminally unleashed against the State by Okorocha and his domestic hoodlums on Sunday February 21”
The Assembly which also frowned that the former governor failed to remember the workings of government and due process said “the only option available to Okorocha in the instant case, whom as a matter of fact, had occupied the Office of Governor of Imo State and presently a serving Senator whom by implication should know and decode the meaning of Judicial Panel of Inquiry and White Paper gazetted by the Government; if he indeed feels otherwise or disagrees with the action of the State Government was to approach the Court, threw caution to the wind as he brazenly invaded the said property hitherto sealed by the Government with dangerously armed thugs and was clearly caught on camera himself driving the security vehicle away from the gate while his rampaging hoodlums pushed. This is untowardly an irresponsibility, lawlessness and rascality unexpected of a former Governor, Senator of the Federal Republic and a suppose statesman”
OPOCA called on Governor Uzodimma not to be distracted by the antics of the former Governor by fully activating all Instruments of the Law and State powers to recover all looted properties of the state for Ndi Imo while urging Imolites both home and Dispora to support the Governor “whom within a short period is speedily transforming Imo via massive road projects, people oriented programmes and policies”
Recall that a few days ago, the State Government acting in accordance with a gazetted White Paper in line with the ‘Recovery, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation’ mantra of Governor Uzodimma administration to reclaim government assets looted by former administrations in the state sealed a property known as Royal Spring Palm located along Akachi Road and purportedly owned by Okorocha’s wife.
