Imo Police Command moves to Recover illegal Arms and Ammunition, as IG directs.

The Imo State Police Command says the Inspector General of Police has ordered the immediate disarmament and recovery of prohibited firearms, ammunition and weapons in the possession of all suspected militias, bandits, vigilant group neighborhood watch, individuals and other bodies.

A release by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Mr. Tunji Akingbole says a Police Joint Task Enforcement team on recovery of arms and ammunition has been set up at the department of Operations, Imo State Police Headquarters, Shell Camp, Owerri to recover illegal weapons such as artillery, rocket weapons, AK-47, LAR, bombs and grenades, Trevor, pump action automatic rifles, machine guns and pistols.

The release directs any person or group of persons in possession of such fire arms to return them to the Department of Operations, Imo State Police Headquarters Shell Camp, Owerri within three weeks for appropriate documentation and action.

It States that after the expiration of three weeks, cordon and search operation will be conducted in the houses and premises of suspected persons or group of persons and anyone found complicit will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
