Imo Govt, INEC REC, Security Chiefs Plotting To Undermine March 18 Polls –Group Reveal
Reports making rounds have it that the Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma in collaboration with the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the State, Prof. Slyvia Agu alongside the Brigadier Commander of 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, Brigadier General Sani Sulaiman among other security Chiefs in the state are seriously plotting to undermine the electoral processes in the forthcoming March 18 election in the state.

The report added that the 27 APC House of Assembly candidates in the State as well as the 27 LG Sole Administrators are working closely to take direction from the lineup in a bid to rigging the election.
According to a group of persons whose Principals participated in the meeting but pleaded anonymity, the Governor met with the outlined Stakeholders at Douglas House few days ago, where they mapped out plans and possible ways of achieving them to ensure that all candidates of the party are delivered by voting, collation, counting, and announcement of the results at all cost.
Some of the resolutions reached at the secret meeting according to the source are captured as follows:
- That election results have been written for the APC House of Assembly candidates across the 27 local government areas of Imo State.
- That the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Slyvia Agu has agreed to accept the results the moment they are announced, and that aggrieved candidates of other parties should seek redress in Court.
- That all INEC staffers deployed to various local government areas should take instructions from the LG Sole Administrators.
- That the REC should carefully select men and women who will be willing to play along with their plans; that all staffers used on the 25th February election must be dropped.
- That at the LGA collation centres, soldiers will be used to threaten, beat, and scare people away to enable the electoral officers escape with the original results
sheets to Government House, where the results will be entered according to their plans.
In view of the above, well meaning Imolites have drawn the attention of Civil Society groups and the Media into the ugly developments while calling on INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu to call Imo REC, Prof. Slyvia Agu, or redeploy her immediately, noting that Imo citizens will vehemently resist the whole plot.

Calls have also been put through to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), to urgently redeploy the Brigadier Commander at 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Owerri for his planned collaboration to thwart the popular wishes of Ndi Imo.
“Note that, Imo people are in pains already over the conduct of the 25th February Presidential and National Assembly elections, bearing in mind the role played by the Army in aiding and abetting electoral theft in Imo State, of which evidence will be showcased in court, that soldiers were openly guarding fraudsters altering election results”
“The COAS sir, maybe the Governor of Imo State has concluded plans to kill all of us with the help of your men. But good enough, what they have done so far is already on the record”
“The wishes of Ndi Imo, however, must stand on 18th March, 2023. If they like, let them meet anywhere, God will continue to expose them”
