Igbo investors have singled Imo State out as first choice investment destination. This is coming on the heels of the efforts by the government of Hon. Emeka Ihedioha to rev up the economy and unleash the state’s overall economic potentials through sound policy framework, fiscal discipline and accountable stewardship.

The investors and captains of industry disclosed this commitment to newsmen after a meeting of Imo State Town Unions in the Diaspora in Lagos on Saturday.

“We are impressed with the emerging business climate in Imo State. Every businessman seeks favourable business climate and political order that promotes economic growth. This is the only way to get value for money. Given the topography of Imo State, we see opportunities in tourism and agriculture; we also see same for manufacturing and commerce given its strategic location. Before the end of the third quarter of 2019 our efforts should have yielded in the repatriation of at least one trillion Naira investments into Imo State,” Chief Alphonsus Uchendu said.

Earlier in his address, the President-General

of the Association of Imo State Indigenous Town Unions, Chief Emeka Diwe, said that, “As you are aware, the last eight years in Imo State had been the worst in the history of the State – eight years eaten by the locusts but God heard the cries of his people and let his people go.”

He continued, “It was the darkest in our history where the age-long town unions that steam the engine of development in our Autonomous Communities were purportedly dissolved by one man without consultation and consent. I thank God that our Association of Indigenous Town Unions which I head was able to challenge that devilish action of the former Governor and restored the existence and dignity of the Town Unions through the Court.”

“This is now the time to come together and move our State forward. We are already making plans to tap from the promise of Governor Emeka Ihedioha to make our State conducive and attractive for investments.”

“It is therefore my appeal to you all to be good ambassadors of your home State everywhere you are and begin now to think of how to bring your investments home,” Diwe pleaded.
