Illegal Revenue Collectors: Imo govt cracks down Mr. Tapey and associates
In an effort to boost Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and combat illegal financial activities, the Imo state government has initiated a crackdown on motor park touts and unauthorized revenue collectors.

The operation, led by Hon. Pastor Frank Onwumere, Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Motor Parks Supervision and Illegal Parks, led to the arrest of the notorious tout, Mr. Tapey and his associates.
He said: “We are executing all actions as directed by His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma. Imo people should, henceforth, begin to pay their levies into the Imo Government’s approved Treasury Single Account (TSA). No one should be providing personal account details for revenue collection.”
He said the crackdown was to shut down illegal motor parks operating in the state and ensure that all revenue collections are channeled into the government’s approved TSA.
“The IGR of the government should be allowed to grow,” Hon. Onwumere emphasized.
“The administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma is dedicated to making Imo better. Those parading their personal accounts for revenue collection will be arrested and face the law.”
He also confirmed the arrest of a notorious gangster and his associates.
“We have arrested Mr. Tapey and his associates, and they will face the full wrath of the law,”
According to Onwumere, the arrest was executed through the diligent efforts of his team, supported by the police and the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and the Anti-Kidnapping unit, known as Tiger Base.
