ICTFN Announces Second International Virtual Conference to Examine Faith and Technology
The Institute of Christian Theological Fellows Nigeria, ICTFN, is to convene its second International Virtual Conference from 18 to 20 August 2026. The three-day conference, which will be hosted on Google Meet, is anticipated to attract in excess of 1,000 participants from across Nigeria and the diaspora.
Announcing the programme in an online interview, the Public Relations Officer of the Institute, Dr Chibuzor Emmanuel Nwagwu, stated that the 2026 edition seeks to build upon the achievements of the inaugural conference. He expressed appreciation to the Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee and Director of Education and Training, Professor Ezeoma D.C. James, and members of his committee for their diligence in organising what he described as an inclusive and intellectually rigorous gathering.

ICTFN was established six years ago and is duly registered with the relevant federal government agency. The Institute’s mandate encompasses the refutation of spurious doctrinal teachings, the defence of the Christian faith, and the training and mentoring of young ministers in the sound exegesis and application of biblical principles. The Institute currently maintains membership across several states of the federation and beyond. According to Dr Nwagwu, the forthcoming conference is expected to enhance the Institute’s membership base. He added that, as a professional body of Christian scholars and practitioners, ICTFN welcomes new members, and that the induction of new fellows will be conducted during this year’s convention in Owerri.
The conference will be convened under the theme “The Image of God in the Age of Algorithm”. Registration is set at ₦10,000 for non-members resident in Nigeria and $50 USD for international participants. The organisers noted that the central theme and its attendant sub-themes for paper presentations will interrogate the theological, ethical, and societal implications of artificial intelligence, digital culture, and technological advancement, with particular reference to their bearing on the church and the wider society.
The list of principal speakers includes Professor Uzoma Emmanuel Afamefuna, President of ICTFN, who will deliver a keynote address; Professor Charles Onuegbunam, Vice President of ICTFN, who will present the goodwill address; Professor Ezeoma D.C. James, Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee; and Reverend Lambert Njoku, National Secretary of ICTFN, who will deliver the welcome address. Other distinguished scholars and theological leaders are also expected to contribute.
Dr Nwagwu observed that the conference is conceived to contribute to the political, social, and economic transformation of the nation, whilst simultaneously strengthening the body of Christ. He remarked that humanity, created in the image of God, possesses the inherent capacity to control, devise, and regulate machines, irrespective of their sophistication. He further stated that the conference will provide a framework through which the church may engage the digital epoch with theological clarity and moral discernment.
Publicity for the conference is currently being disseminated across various social media platforms. Interested persons are urged to register without delay through the Institute’s official channels. Access links for the Google Meet sessions will be transmitted to all registered participants. The general public is hereby invited to attend.
For further information, registration details and enquiries, interested persons may contact the ICTFN Secretariat or follow the Institute on its official social media platforms. For further enquiries, please call: 07016268400, 08033418636, 07039020867.
