BREAKING: Gov Okorocha Drastically Moves Again to Relocate Ekeukwu Owerri Market and New Market
SURPRISE AT SUCH A SHORT NOTICE
Traders at Ekeukwu Market, New Market, hawkers as well as those operating along Douglas Road are given 48hours to vacate their wares and relocate to the new emergency markets at Egbeada and Naze.
A release from the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations and Chairman Bureau for Lands, Engr. Kingsley Uju says the directive was to put an end to the congestion menace and criminality being perpetrated in the heart of the state capital.
The release states that government state that government had given traders at Ekeukwu Market, Illegal Motor-park operators and street hawkers along Douglas road a long period of grace to relocate adding that they have until Saturday (26th August 2017) to remove their property and wares as trading activities in the affected areas shall cease on that date.

It further says motor-park activities along Douglas road are also prohibited, pointing out that arrangements have been concluded to commence massive rehabilitation of Douglas Road and other adjourning streets in addition to the construction of an ultra Modern School project at the Ekeukwu Market location.
It would be recalled that the state government had on several occasions directed the traders to relocate to new market site at Egbeada but recorded nought in that regard.
