Gender Based Violence: PG Omoruka Kingsley Chigozie Admonishes Male Victims To Speak Out

President, of all the Presidentd general of autonomous communities in Imo state Mr Omoruka Kingsley Chigozie has advised men who are victims of gender based violence (GBV) to always speaker out in order to get protection and justice as the stipulated by law.
He gave this advise at the 3 days training organized by the Imo state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in conjunction with the office of her excellency Barr. Chioma Uzodinma, supported by UN women to enlighten president general on the prevention of harmful traditional practices and gender based violence (GBV).

Mr Omoruka while speaking with Journalists, revealed that the popular narrative prior to programme always project women whenever gender based violence is mentioned because men victims do not speak out.
“This programme is wonderful in the sense that we have been able to know the reality of gender based violence, it is not only for women, men are also victims whereas they have been empowered to speak out. From the statistics of the ministry we realize that a lot of men are been sexual abused but their problem is they do not speak out, only women are always heard in most cases.
Also speaking, Nze Placidus Eberendu, President General of Umuezi Uguru autonomous community in Aboh Mbaise local government area and President of all the Presidents General in Aboh Mbaise described the programme as educative, adding that it has cleared many doubt and misconceptions they have about gender based violence in the past while assuring they will work towards changing narratives their various communities,

“The state government has provided us with a working documents through the VAPP law which was signed by the governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma and we commend him for his approval of that law”, he stated.
