Imo 2019: Guber Candidates Gets Ready for Polls, Signs Peace Accord

The major political parties in Imo state on Tuesday 12, February fastened their seat belts to play and abide by the rules and guidelines of the 2019 general Elections in the state as the governorship candidates among others signed a Peace Accord organised by the State Police Command.
The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Dazuki Galadanchi, in his remark charged party officials, supporters and candidates of the various parties in the state to be civil, peaceful and as well exhibit comradiere during and after the elections adding that there will always be a winner in the whole process
In his words, “Democracy is a game of number. There must be a winner and a looser. Anybody who is not here is not a supporter of democracy. We have only one state and that is Imo state. Our gathering today is to make sure that the election is credible, free and fair. Anybody here and is in Imo state is to serve humanity. Everybody must eskew violence.”
Also speaking at the event, the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Hope Uzodinma expressed confidence in the security agencies as well as INEC and promised to abide by the content of the Peace Accord.

“We highly commend the idea of the peace accord initiated by the various security agencies and we will abide by this accord. I have trust in INEC and security agencies, if not I will not be here for this accord meeting, he said.
Speaking to news men at the occasion, the Imo guber flagbearer of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Sir Okey Ezeh extolled the Imo Police Command for organising the Peace Accord describing it as important aspect for everyone in the political process to participate in a peaceful manner and promised that he will play by the rules alongside his party members and supporters.

“It is important for everybody to respect the spirit and the letter we have signed today. We are all and subscribe to it because we all desire peaceful elections”, Okey Ezeh affirmed.
Also in attendance were the gubernatorial candidates of Action Alliance-AA, Peoples Democratic Party-PDP, Young Progressives Party-YPP in the person of Uche Nwosu, Emeka Ihedioha, Linus Okerie among others alongside party chairmen in the state and foreign election observers.

Moreso, five Army officers suspected to be fake soldiers, were paraded at the Command Headquarters. The Commander 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze Owerri, Brigade General H. I. Bature confirmed their false identity during the signing of the peace Agreement said that two out of the five suspects were caught escorting a politician, but he did not mention the name of the politician said to be enjoying the services of the fake Army officers.

The Army Commander said: “You can see, they are wearing the same uniform. You will find it difficult to differentiate them from myself. They are not soldiers. Unfortunately, two of them were caught escorting politicians”
“One of them, Kelvin, is not near anywhere close to military formation. We have a way of identifying fake soldiers. The exhibits recovered is unbelievable. I want to sensitize our people that if you are in the habit of recruiting fake Army we will arrest you”, he warned.
