Emekuku Ezeship Crisis Lingers As Court Adjourns Matter To December 13
There is no doubt that the Ezeship crisis of Obi Royal Family of Ancient Emekuku autonomous community in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State will linger as the Magistrate Court sitting in Owerri has on Thursday adjourned the matter to December 13, 2022, for further hearing.
The Magistrate presiding over the matter, Stella Jeo, had ordered the lawyers of the plaintiff and the defendants including an official of the court to fix a date to go to the hospital to see whether or not the 3rd defendant in the suit is actually sick and hospitalized as stated by the defendants in a letter from the hospital submitted to the court on October 29, 2022.
Lawyers to the plaintiff and the defendants had agreed to obey the order of the court to fix a date to reach the said hospital for proof.
Earlier in the hearing, lawyer to the plaintiff had applied to the court to issue a Bench Warrant to the 3rd defendant who he said has been consistently absent in the court due to ill – health, so that he can be arrested for contempt of court to which the defendants lawyer, Barr. Kenneth Uzoamaka, countered.

The counsel rather told the court that the defendants had already produced evidence from the hospital where the 3rd defendant was admitted proving that he is sick and that the lawyer to the plaintiff needed to go to the hospital and see for himself.
The Obi Royal Family of Ancient Emekuku autonomous community in Owerri North, has been in the court over its Kingship crisis with Nze Reginald Obi and others being defendants to a case filed against them at the Magistrate Court of Owerri by Calistus Ejeshi Amadi- Obi, plaintiff who is claiming to be the monarch of Emekuku autonomous community.
