Eguavoen Named as the Best Coach of AFCON Group Stage
The Confederation of Africa Football, CAF has named the interim coach of the Super Eagles, Austine Eguavoen as the best coach of the group stage at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

For the records at the tournament so far, Coach Eguavoen prepared the three-time champions ‘Super Eagles’ to win impressively all their three Group stage matches.
The Super Eagles won Egypt with 1 goal to naught; won Sudan with 3 goals to 1 and Guinea-Bissau with a 2 to 1 victory in Group D as they conceded only one goal.
Eguavoen said, “Many thanks to the Confederation of African Football for this award.

“The Best coach of the Group stage. Wouldn’t have been possible without my fantastic group of players and colleagues.
“Thank you Nigerians, for your support. It’s needed now, more than ever.”
Ahead of the Super Eagles’ next match with Tunisia on Sunday in the AFCON round of 16, the interim coach said that the team will face their opponent with seriousness regardless of the success recorded in the group stage.
Meanwhile, Eguavoen has been promised a full-time coaching job by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF if he lifts the trophy.
