Don’t Heat Up Polity in Imo —Prince Bob Njemanze Cautions Dr Ihekweme, Imo Govt Officials

By Chinedu Max Egere …

Admonitions have come from the quarters of a revered elder statesman, Prince Bob Njemanze with a guide against the recent comments and reactions trending in the media that are capable of heating up the polity in Imo.

Prince Njemanze spoke to a section of the media at the weekend drawing attention to the comments credited to Dr Fabian Ihekweme against the Imo governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma which had sparked series of reactions from the sides of the aides of the governor and some government officials.

Prince Bob Njemanze is of the view that there will be no need to allow the government of Senator Hope Uzodimma to dangle into crisis with such exchange of banters going viral since the Imo people will suffer its consequences.

According to the fiery public affairs analyst, “Dr. Ihekweme should not pour extra venom with his claims aware of the side effects such would generate in the state”.

He said though Dr Ihekweme’s claims might be right or wrong but that he is more concerned about the consequences such would likely attract to Imo people who would suffer like the grass after the fight of two elephants in the Bush.

On the side of the aides to the governor and some government officials whose reactions to Dr. Ihekweme’s comments are still trending, Prince Bob Njemanze advised strongly that they should tread with caution all in the bid not to escalate the issue to a chaotic situation in the state.

Prince Bob Njemanze declared thus “All parties should be cautious and avoid vitipurations aware that Imo people will lose at such distractions.”

He reminded them that the governor is not contesting governorship elections or reelection which in effect depicts clearly that such crisis should not be given iota of chance to constitute impediment to the government in Imo under the watch of governor Uzodimma.

Governor Hope Uzodimma

To the Prince of the ancient monarch of Owerre, the parties should sheath their swords for the sake of peace and unity in the state.

He said he would rather prefer a situation where Dr. Ihekweme would critique and not to criticize the administration of governor Uzodimma with statements that could generate controversies expressing his utter belief that conflicts, no matter their level of magnitude could exceed bounds in their outburst of anger which he said will not yield good for Imo people”.

Prince Njemanze went on saying that “We should pull together to assist this administration to leave legacies like Chief Sam Mbakwe. I personally put a call to Dr Fabian Ihekweme and in all honesty, feels he was not treated fairly by the state Chief executive. This, I consider to be personal and solely between two friends or in a master/servant relationship. Imo has not completely survived both the security and political distractions suffered by this administration on inception. I therefore in the overall and common interest plead with our well meaning elders and citizens to be more focused towards a future of benefits for our children. Those agents of government who parade themselves as if they were dealing with a pariah citizenship stoking themselves as if they were the shadow governor must watch the danger they are putting on the governor and his administration. Let us not reenact the syndrome of the very laudable programme of CLEAN AND GREEN that was overtly abused. A concept that became the bane of the administration and subsequently one of the major reasons for denying it a second chance”

Prince Njemanze went further saying “I shared some thoughts with His Excellency, the governor and I can vouch that he means well for the state. I blame some of the misgivings on poor dissemination of information. I discussed some of his pet projects which are being attacked and I see the benefits from my own estimation, were not explicitly explained to the people. Let us not distract the administration as it is gradually winding down in 2027. The inestimable benefits of the Orashi scheme or the redevelopment of the Concorde hotel are not explicitly explained to the people. The idea of believing that the people will understand in a mischief laden environment with so much envy and self centredness does not augur well for government. We must not compound issues in the midst of the present hardship. We must pray for a successful transition of power in the year 2027. So help us God”.
