Diego set to leave Atletico Madrid after ‘Exit Deal’
Diego Godin has reportedly agreed a deal to leave athletico Madrid.
The Uruguayan defender was briefly linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer.
The 32-year-old has established himself as one of the best defenders in world football during his nine-year stint at Athletico, who have consistently been one of the best sides in European football in that time.
Despite this, Godin is out of contract in the summer, and with his manager conceding the Uruguayan could leave on a free at the end of the season, it’s now being reported that he has agreed a move to inter Milan.
Sources claim that Godin has accepted the offer of a two a year contract from inter which is also said to include the option of an additional year.
Godin came close to leaving Atletico for Manchester united in the summer, deciding against the move for personal reasons shortly before the transfer window closed to English clubs. United, reports at the time claimed, had gone as far as arranging fora private jet to bring the player to Manchester from Madrid for his medical.
Godin won the LaLiga title with Atleti in 2014, reachingthe Champions League finalthe same yearandagain two seasonslater-losing to real Madrid on both occasions. He also played his part in their Europa League final victory last season.
If he does complete a move to inter, he will be reunited with former defensive partner, Miranda, who made the same move from Madrid four years ago.
