Covid-19: Orlu TC Chairman Inaugurates Committee, Distributes Sanitizers, Food Items to Communities

Transition Committee Chairman, Orlu LGA, Imo State, Hon Ifeoma Ndukwu, has recently inaugurated a Committee at the Local Government Headquarters with the mandate to go into the rural communities to sensitize the people on the prevention of the devastating coronavirus, as well as distribute food items as rice, indomie and hand sanitizers among others, to them to cushion hunger.
In a telephone chat with our reporter, in Owerri, on Friday, Mrs Ndukwu, said the measure by the Council was to support the State Government to fight and prevent Covid-19 and cushion its effects against people at the rural communities.
According to Ndukwu, “in line with the efforts and input of the Imo State Government led by Governor Hope Uzodinma to fight and prevent Covid-19 in the State, a Committee made up of persons of integrity, had been constituted and inaugurated recently at the Orlu LGA Headquarters, Orlu, with the mandate to go into the rural communities to sensitize the people on the prevention of the devastating coronavirus including the distribution of food items as rice and indomie and hand sanitizers, etc to them”.
The Orlu LGA boss, who informed that the Committee has started discharging its mandate, reminded the people to always obey government directives to prevent the coronavirus pandemic to live healthy at all times, noting that prevention is better than cure as there is no alternative to heathy living.
“Obeying government directives to stay safe against coronavirus by keeping social distance, regular hand washing or sanitizing, staying indoors and shunning multitude, social gathering are germane to preventing disease”, maintaining that deep sense of hygiene will go along way to prevent any disease.
Ndukwu who appraised the effective input of Governor Hope Uzodimma, other government functionaries, individuals, corporate organizations, religious bodies etc, to prevent the coronavirus pandemic in the State, urged all well meaning Imo people including the banks to join government in the fight against coronavirus.
Ndukwu also hailed the Federal Government for putting immense efforts to fight the coronavirus and curing those already infected with the deadly disease, urging it to do more to assuage huger in the country.
She prayed to God to continue to have mercy on mankind so that the coronavirus pandemic stops.
