General Manager, Imo State Housing Corporation, Arc Chidi Okoli, has hailed Governor Emeka Ihedioha’s vision on building and providing quality affordable housing estate for Imo people.
He hailed the Governor while speaking during the Official Ground-breaking Ceremony of Rebuild Imo Estate Phase 1, The Riverpark, by Governor Emeka Ihedioha, at Azara-uwala, Owerri North local government area, Imo State, on Thursday.
Okoli, who noted that 5000 Houses are targeted to be built by the Governor before 2023 so that Imo people including civil servants would enjoy affordable housing, said they are starting with 400 housing units, “but it will be more than that subsequently”.
“Next year, more houses will be flagged off within Okigwe, Orlu and Owerri Zones. This is aimed at addressing housing deficit in the State. We are partnering with corporate organizations as Federal Mortgage Bank and Federal Housing Authority and Silver Lake Construction Limited. We are also partnering and buying from communities who donate their lands. This feat will create employment for youths because we are committed to make life bearable for imolites”.
Okoli mentioned that facilities will be provided with effective security to secure the housing environment, calling on people to support the project and promote tourism.
The GM, Imo State Housing Corporation, reflected that there will be “5% discount for early buyers before January 2020 with the newest government estate in Owerri, containing affordable 2 bedroom semi-datched bungalow, 3 bedroom fully detached bungalow and 4 bedroom fully detached duplex”.
Describing the feat as germane and encouraging, Commissioner for Housing, Hon Nick Ahamefule, maintained that the site is beautiful and reaffirmed continued support to the Governor for doing well for the people.
Just as Hon Philip Ejiogu, member representing Owerri North State Constituency, said the feat was a welcomed development, as about 5000 houses will be built before 2020, thanking the Imo State Housing Corporation and partners for the wonderful project.
However, Governor Emeka Ihedioha, who performed the ground-breaking ceremony, hinted that government marked out a comprehensive housing for low income earners as 5000 houses will be affordable and the journey has begun and sues for quality and timely completion of the housing project, urging investors to come in and invest in the State as it is safe and beautiful.
The event was witnessed by many people especially the host community.
