Builder Andy Osuagwu Emerges Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Building in Imo …Promise to Partner Govt to Reduce Building Collapse
Bldr Andy Osuagwu of the Federal Polytenic Nekede has emerged as the Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), Imo State Chapter.

Osuagwu was elected at a well attended meeting of the chapter held at the Imo State Secretariat of NIOB, Owerri, after his opponent Bldr Angus Ofoma withdrew from the race at the middle of the voting exercise.
Others elected officers of the chapter include Bldr Innocent Onukogu as Vice Chairman, Bldr Vitalis Nlemuzor, as the General Secretary.
Also elected are Bldr Nwaigwe Daniel, Assistant General Secretary, Mr Jude Uwabuike, Financial Secretary, Bldr (Mrs) Ulari Onwuka Treasurer, Mr Ugwuegbu Samuel Public Relations Officer while Opara Udoka got the position of Provost.
The immediate past chairman of the chapter, Bldr Collins Nwoko, in his speech at the end if the election, expressed happiness at the outcome saying that a good leader must have plan for a successor.
He thanked the members for making a good choice in the person of Osuagwu who would take over from him.
Nwoko advised the new chairman to do his best to supercede his achievements in the chapter.
In their respective speeches, Bldrs Gerry Ukah and Christian Eze, fellows of the institute, expressed gladness at the choice of Osuagwu as the chief leader of the chapter in Imo State.
They advised him to put in his best in repositioning the chapter in the state.
In his acceptance speech, Osuagwu promised to partner with the Imo Government to reduce the rate of building collapse in the state by allowing builders to occupy their rightful positions in the built environment sector.

He also promised to produce as many Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) as possible to compete favourably in the state.
Osuagwu appealed to the state government to allocate a land to the chapter for the building of its secretariat in the state.
He promised to maintain Imo chapter as as a pace-setter state in national programmes.
He also promised tho carry his members along in all his administration’s activities in the state and beyond.
