Breaking: Three Storey Building collapsed in Owerri
About forty artisans escaped death when a three storey building under construction collapsed near Specialist Hospital road Umuguma Owerri.

An eye witness who pleaded anonymity said the building belonging to a Hotel collapsed when they were at work.
He said they escaped the tragedy when they heard cracking sounds from the pillars of the building.
Speaking at the scene, the Chief of Staff Government House Owerri, Chief Uche Nwosu expressed dismay over the rate of erection of substandard buildings in the state and directed immediate suspension of the work on the structure and the sealing of the site.
The General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA, Dr. Chika Nnajiofor clarified that the building had no approval from her office and promised to investigate on the issue and take necessary actions
