Bloody War in Ideato North APGA as Chairman Flees with 1 Million Naira
The Ideato North Chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has been thrown into heavy crisis following the disappearance of its acting Chairman, Mr. Willifred Egesiokwu, with over a million Naira earmarked for the party’s state-wide campaign flag off which held recently.
The party faithful and Ward Chairmen had almost lynched Mr. Egesiokwu in Urualla where he had been sighted. But he narrowly escaped death, allowing the angry mod to destroy the APGA branded vehicle given to the LGA Chairmen by Senator Ifeanyi Araraume which he abandoned in a bid to save his life.
Mr. Egesiokwu, our correspondent in Ideato reliably gathered, was given the whopping sum for mobilization and transportation of the party faithful to the mega rally in Owerri. He, however, made away with the money after allegedly sharing some part of it with the Orlu Zonal Chairman of the Party, Mazi Jerry Okwukaogu.
A source within the APGA circle in Ideato North further revealed that Mazi Okwukaogu has since handed over his part of the money to the Chairman of the APGA Campaign Council in the LGA, Chief Ezeifedi Umeukeje. The source also confirmed that the whereabouts of Mr. Egesiokwu remains yet unknown.
When contacted, one of the Ward Chairmen of the Party fumed that, “We have been tracing his location. If we sight him, I can swear with my late father’s grave that we will not spare his life. I don’t know who imposed him on us. This man was notorious for theft even when he was the LGA Youth Leader of the Party.”
Meanwhile all the Ward Chairmen, Youth Leaders and Women Leaders have put forward different petitions to the leadership of the Party in the State, vowing never to accept Mr. Egesiokwu as Chairman of the Party in the LGA any longer.
The residence of Mr. Egesiokwu in Owerre-Akokwa has since been deserted by his family and relatives, who ostensibly fear that they might get hurt by the angry party faithful who haunt the vicinity day after day.
