Assist The Poor In Your Environment –Rev. Fr. Mbah
The Parish Priest of St Mark’s Catholic church New Owerri of Owerri Archdiocese, Rev Father Franklin Mbah has advised Catholics and Christians to affect the lives of the poor around them positively.
Fr Mbah gave the advice while delivering a homily on their 13th Priestly Anniversary which was hosted by the Archdiocesan Divine Mercy Chaplain and Lecturer, Seat of Wisdom Seminary Ulakwo, Rev Fr Dr Michael Konye, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, World Bank Housing Estate, New Owerri, recently.
Fr Ubah cited some Bible quotations where Jesus sent us as disciples to the poor, explaining that Jesus came to the world as a fulfilment of the law, as written in the scriptures.
He went on to say that following Jesus’ preaching and admonition, people planned to kill him, but that they did not succeed because the appointed time had not come.
The Catholic Cleric said we should be grateful to God for the gift of the Holy Spirit imparted to us through Jesus Christ, stressing the need for Christians to thank God for His Grace and Love upon mankind.
Fr Mbah recalled that 16 of them were ordained Priests of the Roman Catholic Church on 14th August, 2010 and appreciated God for leading them in His vineyard thus far.
Responding, the Host Priest, Rev Fr Dr Michael Konye re-affirmed willingness to continue to do best at propagating the gospel.
He expressed gratitude to his fellow Priests, Family members, and Divine Mercy Devotees from Owerri Archdiocese who turned out in their numbers to be in attendance despite the hard economic crunch.
Fr Konye pledged to continue to put in best and drummed the support of the Devotees to keep the faith afloat.
In his closing speech, the Owerri Archdiocesan Leader, Bro. Emmanuel Oliwe prayed that the Divine Mercy Devotees would always brace up to worshiping God in truth and in Faith.
Brother Oliwe stated that the cardinal aspects of Divine Mercy Devotion was to carry out the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy.
