2027: South East SDP woos Obi, Atiku, others …affirms support for party’s leadership
AHEAD of the 2027 General Elections, the South East Region of the Social Democratic Party, SDP recently made known that the party is wooing the 2023 Presidential Candidate of Labour Party LP, and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Peter Obi, and Atiku Abubakar respectively including other big-wigs of other political parties.
In a statement signed by the National Vice Chairman, South East, of the party, Chief Arinze Ekelem, he explained that the move so far, is to ensure that the party brings them on board before the elections as the party’s platform does not have any form of colouration but a fresh and strong platform which Nigerians can use to achieve their political ambitions.
According to Ekelem, the former Rivers State Governor and Minister of Transport, Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi, and former Governor of Osun State and Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola are also on the list of big fishes that would join the party.

He Pointed out that recent developments in the party, following high-profile defections into the party, is a wind that would blow the party into power come 2027.
“We in South East Zone of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, is already making moves to ensure that the 2023 Presidential Candidate of Labour Party LP, and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Peter Obi, and Atiku Abubakar respectively, including the former Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transport, Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi, and former Governor of Osun State and Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola are full-fledged members of our great party.
“The SDP is a formidable party with all demographics well represented and the internal democracy is what drives the party.
“We believe that very soon the party will embrace them, having seen the unity, foresight, personalities and current repositioning of our great party by our capable and well experienced National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam.
“SDP is a party that prioritizes inclusivity. It is a party for Nigerians seeking a fresh political direction to rescue this country. I urge Nigerians to Join the movement now for a greater and better Nigeria”.
He however affirmed their confidence in the party’s leadership and the entire National Working Committee(NWC), of the party, and discribed the influx of new members as key for the party’s growth and victory come 2027 election.
