It came as a big surprise when popular Nollywood actor Yul Edochie declared on social media platform on Friday, his interest of running for the governorship position of Anambra state.
The actor who revealed this on his Instagram and Twitter accounts stressed the need for youth generational leaders other than recruiting old men who have little or nothing to offer into public service. He said “we need a new brand of leaders who will put the masses first. The older ones have failed us for too long…They have come to THE LAST BUS STOP!!! My name is Yul Edochie.

We need a new brand of Leaders who will put the masses first, the older ones have failed us… They have come to the THE LAST BUS STOP!!!

It is really a motivating development that the acclaimed Leaders(Youth) of Tomorrow cum celebrities are now standing up for their rightful places in the affairs of the country other being used by politicians to commit atrocities prior and during elections.
Other prominent candidates for the position are incumbent governor, Willie Obiano, former minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka and Chief Godwin Ezeemo, an Anambra based industrialist.
Recall that 43 year-old actor Desmond Eliot in 2015 contested and won a seat in the Lagos state House of Assembly. Comedian Julius Agwu also contested in the gubernatorial election in Rivers state and lost.
Also, Ini Edo was in 2016 appointed special adviser on tourism to the Akwa Ibom state governor and earlier this year, 32 year old actress Mercy Johnson was named the senior special assistant to the Kogi state governor, among other prominent celebrities.
