All is set for the 50th anniversary celebration of The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria witness in Imo State as the creme de la creme of the society are billed to grace event.
In a statement by the media directorate of the Imo Synod of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria on Monday, the Imo Synod Moderator, Most Rev Ogbu Thompson noted that the event which holds in June at Owerri Parish Aladinma Imo state has invited the governors of Imo, Abia and Ebonyi States, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma, His Excellency Alex Ottih and His Excellency Francis Nwifuru respectively and other high profiled individuals to be part of the program.
Ogbu pointed out that the church which started in Imo State in 1976 in one room with less than 5 members has grown to become a big Church with thirteen parishes and three presbyteries with several outstations and outreaches within her bounds.
“There is need to celebrate this milestone and the golden jubilee that doesn’t come easily”.

The moderator who’s the minister in-charge of Owerri Parish urged members and friends of the church to keep a date with the church. The event according to him will start with lectures, award to deserving individuals both dead and alive who contributed to the expansion of the church and communion and other soul-uplifting activities as highpoints of the event.
Ogbu called on all and sundry to continue to uphold the church in their daily prayers for more spiritual expansion and enrichment.
“The growth of the church has touched the nooks and corners of the state and beyond.
“When a church grows it affects the spiritual life of the members who have continued to progress in their life endeavours. We appreciate the state government for supporting the church and the conducive environment that the government of the day has provided for churches to thrive”.
