Revealed: How People Voted Senator Onyewuchi Against Their Wish For Hon. Onyeaguocha
By Onwuasoanya FCC Jones…
This man (Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi), plays a politics of tactical positioning. He has never really won any election on his own personal popularity since 2011 when he first ventured into politics. He rode on Okorocha’s mass following in 2011, and in 2015, he clambered on the mass popularity of the PDP in Owerri zone, same in 2019.
In this 2023, there is not a single doubt that Uche Onyeagucha is the most popular candidate in the race for Owerri Senate and he deserved to win, but many thousands of people voted for Onyewuchi without really knowing they were voting for him. I know some people who told me that they would want Onyeagucha to win, but who, in order to avoid any mistake in voting for Obi, cast their votes for the LP, all through.
I owned a property few metres away from Onyewuchi’s father’s house in Orji, and the road leading to that property is a horrible sight. While his promoters would serenade you with tales and pictures of his numerous projects as a Senator, many Owerri people see him as a huge failure and a waste of space in the National Assembly. I won’t be surprised if the real results of this election show him as having lost woefully in Orji where he hails from.
While it is disappointing that in twelve years as a member of the National Assembly, this soft-spoken and suave politician has failed to leave a good mark in the hearts of, even his own kinsmen from Orji, we must not question God for always putting it in his heart to join the political vehicle that would always push him through to victory. Maybe, it is not for him, maybe, it is for those who directly benefit from him, and God doesn’t make a mistake.

I will congratulate him and wish that he uses this third chance to do redeem himself in the hearts of his people. Represent them better, attract better projects and empower more people in your constituency. Those are reasons you are in the legislature. I know you will want to tell me that your primary duty is to make laws, but empowerment, infrastructure and anything that makes your people happy with you, are the real lawmaking.
