Ohakim, Obinna, Others Eulogize Late Former Imo HoS, Ndugbu
Former Imo Governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim and Catholic Archbishop of Owerri diocese, His Grace, Anthony Obinna on Friday paid special tributes to a former Imo Head of Service (HoS), Dr Agatha Ndugbu.
They paid the tributes when the remains of the statistician cum lawyer was laid to rest in her husband’s compound Amuzi, in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo.
Speaking at a Church service in honour of the late public servant, Ohakim described the deceased, who was also a former Chairman, Imo State Civil Service Commission, as an epitome of hardwork and diligence with sterling attributes worthy of emulation.
He advised the bereaved family to find solace in her legacies of discipline and selflessness which attracted her to people of different social strata.
“Today, we mourn a selfless woman whose devotion to duty, hardwork and diligence come second to none.
“It is our earnest prayer that these legacies be preserved and that they serve as consolation to the family and friends,” he said.
In a sermon, held at St. Jude Catholic Church, Amuzi, Ahiazu Mbaise, Archbishop Obinna described late Ndugbu as a devout christian whose life and conduct reflected the tenets of godly fear and devotion.
He advised public servants to emulate the virtues of the deceased, shun corruption, and carry out their duties with the fear of God.
Mr Kelechi Ndugbu, the Chief mourner and son of the deceased, described her mother as a loving, caring and graceful woman of virtue.
He thanked sympathizers for identifying with the family during their time of grief and prayed for journey mercies to all who attended the burial ceremony.
He promised on behalf of his family to keep the legacies left behind by their mother.
Mr Chima Ndugbu, another son of the deceased, in an oration, said her mother was not deterred by the untimely death of her husband but effectively combined the responsibilities of a widow and her service to the nation.
Our correspondent reports that the burial ceremony was attended by incumbent Imo HoS, Dr Chibuzor Iwuagwu, serving and retired Imo permanent Secretaries, acting Imo Chief Judge, Justice Ijeoma Ogugua and Prof. Viola Onwuliri former Minister of Education (State).
