NURTW Backs APC’s Onyedebelu, Pledges Support for Development
By Chinenye Chukwuma…

In a show of solidarity and support, Comrade Jeff Eze, State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), has congratulated Chief Austin Onyedebelu on his emergence as the new State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Imo State. In an exclusive interview with newsmen at his office, Comrade Eze hailed the new APC leadership as a welcome development, praising the party’s organized and disciplined approach to politics.
Comrade Jeff Eze expressed his enthusiasm for the new APC leadership, stating that it’s a testament to the party’s strength and commitment to democracy. He commended the manner in which the congress was held, saying it showcased the party’s ability to conduct free and fair elections. “We were there at Ndubuisi Kanu square and witnessed the congress, and we were impressed by the level of organization and discipline displayed,” he said.
The NURTW chairman extended his congratulations to Chief Onyedebelu and the entire APC executive, stating that it’s a new beginning for the party in Imo State. He pledged the union’s support for the new leadership, saying they are ready to work with the ruling party to bring about positive change in the state. “As a union, as an indigene, and as a government, we must work with the ruling party to bring the desired changes,” he said.
Comrade Eze also advised aspiring politicians in the state to stay within the bounds of the law and avoid violence during the upcoming elections. He emphasized that everyone has a constitutional right to contest and vote, but urged them to do so peacefully. “Let us reduce any form of violence that will be associated with our political intentions,” he said.
The NURTW chairman clarified that the union is not a political tharwt to anyone, stating that members have the right to relate with any political party of their choice. He, however, cautioned against using the union’s name for nefarious activities, saying impostors should not be allowed to hijack the union’s name for personal and political gain. “There are too many impostors on the street of Owerri, claiming to be members of the national union,” he said.
Comrade Eze urged aspiring politicians to respect the constitution and avoid using the NURTW’s name for their personal gain. He reiterated that the union is not a political party and should not be used as a platform for personal ambition. “If you must participate in any criminal activities in the name of helping a politician, please do that at your own name and at your own risk,” he said.
The NURTW chairman emphasized that the union is committed to promoting peace and stability in the state, and will work with the new APC leadership to achieve this goal. He called on all stakeholders to support the new leadership and work towards building a better Imo State.
Comrade Eze also commended the APC for conducting a peaceful and transparent congress, saying it’s a model for other parties to emulate. He urged other parties to adopt the APC’s approach to politics, saying it will promote democracy and stability in the state.
The NURTW chairman expressed confidence that the new APC leadership will bring about positive change in the state, saying they have the experience and commitment to make a difference. He pledged the union’s support for the new leadership, saying they are ready to work together to build a better Imo State.
In conclusion, Comrade Eze reiterated the NURTW’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the state, and urged all stakeholders to support the new APC leadership. He called on aspiring politicians to respect the constitution and avoid violence, saying it’s the only way to ensure a peaceful and credible election.
