Nigeria Diaspora Forum Country Director Hon. Chike Amadichi Faults FG on the Proposed New Minimum Wage
The Country Director of Nigeria Diaspora Forum, NDF. Hon Chike Amadichi have faulted moves by the Federal Government to implement a new Minimum Wage of forty-eight thousand naira only (#48,000) for Nigeria workers, describing it as a big slap on the faces of hardworking citizens who are not only the Foundation but life-wires of Governments.

Hon. Amadichi frowned at the proposed monthly take-home where there is high inflation across the country on daily basis while worker’s pay remains constant, adding that such proposal on knowing how hard things are in the country shows the height of insensitivity as well as a mark of irresponsibility of the Federal Government.
“It is very embarrassing and insulting to the sensibility of Nigerians for the Tinubu led Federal Government to propose #48,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers”
“What an insensitive Government! …#48k salary in a Country where a bag of rice is #75k?
“Today’s exchange rate is #1,540 to $1. …Imagine a Government proposing to pay $31 monthly minimum wage!
The NDF Country Director, Hon Amadichi further stressed that it is very annoying and humiliating that after much yearning, strikes struggle and clamour of Nigerian workers for increment in their minimum salaries of Thirty-five thousand naira only; what the Government could add to cushion the effects of hardship is just Eighteen thousand naira only.
He however advised that if the Nigerian government meant well for her citizens, she ought have borrowed leaves from advance countries of the world where workers welfare are well spelt out to give all round sense of belonging; where workers are well appreciated and paid on hourly basis even above what the Nigerian Government is proposing.
“In the USA official minimum wage per hour is $7 to $10
so apparently what Nigerian Government is proposing to pay a Nigerian worker in 30days is what USA government pays a worker in 4hours!
“This try and error Government carelessly removed fuel subsidy on the Day 1 in office without planning or consultation thereby increasing the sufferings of Nigerians and increased the hardship we have been suffering from Buhari administration”

Hon Amadichi said “This Government reluctantly approved the so called wage award of 35k to add on 30k minimum wage to make it 65k with hope that they will eventually review the National minimum wage upwards to at least 100k or 150k, only for this illegitimate and fraudulent government to announce 48k as minimum wage, a figure that can barely fill up a Toyota Corolla saloon car”
“So with all the billions and trillions this government claimed they have saved from Fuel subsidy removal, Tinubu can only add 18k to Nigerian workers salary?
“What a wicked Government!!
