The ceremony will mark the official return of women’s football to a community widely regarded as the birthplace of female football in Nigeria—a legacy that began in the late 1970s when Coach Godwin Agbaraji pioneered organised women’s football years before national recognition.
Organisers have confirmed that the event will be chaired by Dr. Kachi Nwoga, founder of MedSoft and Vice President of the Nextzon Group, Several Super Falcons players are expected at the unveiling to encourage and assess the next generation of female talents emerging from the region.
Mbaise has a distinguished history of producing some of the country’s finest female footballers, including Olympic gold medalist DCP Chioma Ajunwa (Rtd.), former Super Falcons coach Uche Eucharia, Eberechi Oparaku, Ogechi Oparaku, and AWCON-winning star Jennifer Echegini.
CEO of Silvernews Communication and promoter of the Silversports Queens, Mr. Kennedy Onwunali, described the initiative as “a fresh opportunity to restore the glory brought to our community by my mentor, Coach Daga,” who will be specially honoured during the ceremony.
