The Commissioner added that it is his duty as a leader to constantly check on his loyalists and ensure their welfare and wellbeing to enable them have more sense of belonging, thereby strengthening their commitment to community development and government support.
Responding, Okereke expressed joy for the visit, hinting that he felt being appreciated and remembered by a top government official despite his recent absence from political activities.
Okereke, without mincing words, thanked the Commissioner for making time, out of his tight schedule, to visit him, saying it is a sign of good things to come.
He also appealed to his supporters, youths and students to continue to back the leadership of Senator Governor Hope Uzodimma as he works for the good of the state, even as he cited the Governor’s commitment to infrastructural development of Imo State.
“I reaffirm my solid support to Governor Hope Uzodimma’s leadership”, Okereke said.
Okereke, who is also the Special Adviser to the FUTO Vice Chancellor on Student Matters, highlighted the Governor’s efforts in securing infrastructure projects for the South East, including a $3 billion rail line award and described Imo State as becoming the “bride of Southern Nigeria”.
The NANS leader thus requested the rehabilitation of FUTO Road to facilitate access to workplaces and the stabilization of academic activities, particularly for his colleagues who work with him as INEC ad-hoc staff during the last general elections.
