Imo Hoteliers Boss says IHTEF award call to greater service

Chief servant, Imo chapter of the Nigerian Hoteliers Association, Mr Chima Chukwunyere, has described his recent award as Best Hotel Association Leader (southeast) as a call to greater service.

Chukwunyere said this in Owerri, on Tuesday, while reacting to the award presented to him by the organisers of the seventh International Hospitality, Tourism and Eco-sustainability Forum (IHTEF) conference, held at the Abuja Continental hotel, on April 24 and 25, 2024.

He thanked IHTEF’s Executive Director, Mr Chibuikem Diala, for his insight and proactive leadership style which contributed greatly to the success of the conference.

He pledged continued commitment to advancing the course of the tourism industry in Imo and Nigeria at large.

“I dedicate this award to God Almighty, my family and the entire hoteliers in Imo and I thank the organisers of the seventh IHTEF conference for finding me worthy of honour.

“Despite the many challenges of the industry in Imo, ranging from multiple taxation to outrageous costs of maintaining the hotels, I pledge to continue protecting the right of hoteliers in my jurisdiction and ensuring that they are not intimidated “, he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that among those present at the conference were Nigeria’s Minister of Tourism, Mrs Lola Ade-John and Vice Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo-Iwe.

Others were representatives of the Federal Ministries of Environment, Labour and Employment, among others.
