Gov. Uzodinma Re-election: Make Education Your Priority –Dr. Mbamah

Charles Nwankwo…

The re-elected Governor of Imo State Senator Hope Uzodinma has been urged to give priority attention to the development of education in Imo State and also create a visible support to the rule of law in this dispensation.

Dr. Don Mbamah, an American and Nigerian Licensed Legal Professional gave this advise in an article he titled “Dear Governor Uzodinma” made available to newsmen in Owerri, Imo State Capital this week.

Dr. Mbamah who congratulated Gov. Uzodinma on his victory, strongly postulated that more focus on education and rule of law will shift the Nigerian derailment and set it back on the right course.

Dr. Mbamah who is also a university don lamented that the unemployment rate in Nigeria is very high at this time because the workforce is simply untrained.

According to him “Our Children graduate with degrees that are practically devoid of any education”.

He condemned the circumstances where graduates defraud themselves, leave school and end up driving “KEKE” not because of unemployment but because they are not trained for any kind of employment.

In order to remedy this anomaly, Dr. Mbamah who comes from Amucha in the Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State advocates for

the introduction of the use of international textbooks and a monitoring team that will ensure that the schools teach the students stewardship, custodianship, advanced civilization and more advanced thought process which will develop them into leaders of tomorrow and equip them with fairness, social justice, integrity and morals.

Dr. Mbamah equally called for a taskforce whose main activity is to covertly infiltrate the schools, arrest, prosecute students and teachers who participate in the destruction of the fabric of the educational system.

Another area that Dr. Mbamah pointed out that Gov. Uzodinma should seriously address is the Judiciary, and the restoration of the rule of law, he advised that action should be expedited on current cases from all corners of the state under criminal prosecution and make sure that justice is quickly done to all concerned.

The legal luminary explained that Governor Uzodinma at this time has the best opportunity to surround himself with capable assistants who have good understanding of civilian rule and can bring to the table what is needed to effectuate the constitution and restore what was destroyed in most Nigerians being products of a military predicament.

He emplored Gov. Uzodinma to create a system that will survive his administration and will continue to work forever and stay as a public trust.
