Gov Uzodinma Commends High Chief Awurum of Amaimo
Governor of Imo state, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma has commended High Chief Justin Awurum; the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Okwelle Foundations for what His Excellency described as Chief Awurum’s “uncommon philanthropic gestures” as well as “his immense contributions to the uplightment of his community, Amaimo Ancient Kingdom in Ikeduru local government area of Imo state”.
Governor Uzodimma made the commendation during his visit to Ikeduru local government area in January this year in the presence of the Deputy Governor, Prof. Placid Njoku and other personalities.

Speaking earlier, High Chief Awurum who is a notable community leader in Amaimo Ancient Kingdom expressed immense gratitude to Governor Uzodimma for the reconstruction of Owerri-Orlu road, Owerri-Okigwe road and Owerri-Umuahia road.

He consequently appealed to the Governor to consider as a matter of urgency the reconstruction of Atta-Amaimo-Obohia road as the road is a major carriage road that will not only ease the traffic on the Onitsha-Owerri road but will equally enable the farmers in the area to evacuate their farm products to other major towns of the state for sales thereby boosting their economy and that of the state.

It will be recalled that High Chief Awurum in keeping with his philanthropic gestures, installed Solar lights on every nook and cranny of his Community; refurbished the palace of the Traditional Ruler of Amaimo Ancient Kingdom as well as sponsored the Amaimo Unity Cup competition in Football where the Winners of the Tournament went home with the sum of #500,000; the Second Runners-up clinched the sum of #300,000 while the Third Runners-up got the sum of #200,000. Also every participating town smiled home with the sum of #50,000 each. High Chief Awurum has since redeemed the payments.

Speaking to newsmen, Chief Awurum promised to continue to contribute meaningfully to the development of his town, Amaimo Ancient Kingdom and Imo state in general.
He called on other people of means to put in their quota towards the development of their respective towns both infrastructurally and in human capital development.
