Election Malpractice: NRM Imo West Senatorial Candidate, Uwaezuoke Decries State of Impunity, Heads To Tribunal
STEPHEN CY. UWAEZUOKE, THE IMO WEST SENATORIAL DISTRICT CANDIDATE FOR THE NATIONAL RESCUE MOVEMENT (NRM). DISAGREES WITH THE INEC’S DECLARATION OF THE FEBRUARY 25TH ELECTION RESULT OF THE ORLU SENATORIAL ELECTION. HE HEADS TO THE TRIBUNAL FOR THE CANCELLATION OF THE FRAUDULENT RESULT.
My sincere gratitude to the good people of Imo West Senatorial District, I thank you for your support, and for taking out your precious time to vote for me on February 25, 2023, in anticipation that I would provide you with a legacy leadership that is much needed in the district.
Unfortunately, the people’s choice was fraudulently not allowed to prevail. The election was marred with vote buying, intimidation, late arrival of the INEC’s personnel and the electoral equipment, no voting in many polling stations, and many other electoral violations. INEC conspired with the government in power, and announced the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Chief Osita Izunaso, as the winner of the race.
Contrary to the expectations of the people of Orlu, the change we desired, and our anticipation that the election would offer us the opportunity to stop the recycling of the politicians, was unscrupulously taken away from ‘ndi’ Orlu, with impunity, total disregard to the people, and democracy. The people were denied the opportunity to choose the leadership of their choice. The action of the State government, APC, INEC, and law enforcement agencies provided the enabling environment that cumulated the false results tantamount to political leaching in the Orlu senatorial election, 2023.
I participated in the Orlu senatorial race to offer the good people of Orlu an opportunity to stop the recycling of old, ineffective, and insensitive politicians that have hampered the economic and social development; the security of lives and properties, and the well-being of the people of Orlu senatorial district. Orlu deserves better. With the incessant killings, poverty, and hardship prevalent in the district, the people desired a change. But unfortunately, the state government, APC, INEC, and the law enforcement agencies conspired and rigged the election. I am very concerned that the economic, social, security, and well-being of the citizens will continue to deteriorate.
They did not allow us to vote in Lagos State, and they did not allow our votes to count in Orlu Senatorial Zone. We need to stand up, speak out, and save our lives, democracy, and the future of our children.
Ndi Igbo’s experience during the election has elevated the need to have, at least, a standard international airport, and a seaport in the Sotheast/Southsouth geographical area.
This will substantially stir the economic development in regions, and Nigeria in general. Also, it will give Ndi Igbo residing in Lagos the opportunity to relocate, at their respective accord.
We need a Senator that can guarantee us this agenda., we must confront the blatant attack on our nascent democracy.

We should not be quiet and allow a few individuals to continue to perpetuate indiscipline, hardship, and hopelessness in our communities.
In line with my suggestion, through my lawyer, I have tendered my objection to the INEC’s declaration of Chief Osita Izunaso as the Imo West Senator-elect, to the Imo State Senatorial Tribunal, asking for the cancellation of the results. We must defend democracy and the future of our people.
Chief Stephen CY. Uwaezuoke, Orlu Senatorial Candidate, National Rescue Movement (NRM)
