ECOL ’88 Leadership: Emeka Ariguzo Holds The Ace
As ECOL ’88 Unique Men currently hold their 10th Anniversary Celebration and Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Enugu, the air is filled not just with reunion and nostalgia, but with celebration of leadership. On the sidelines of the AGM, members who have arrived from all over Nigeria and the diaspora are united in one chorus – celebration of their National Coordinator, Sir Emeka Ariguzo, Ph. D.
It is a celebration that is well deserved.
In the last ten years of ECOL ’88 as an organized Set of Emmanuel College Owerri, what has stood the Association out as unique is not just that it is the largest Set in the history of the College, but that it has been blessed with a leader who holds the ace of purposeful leadership.
Sir Emeka Ariguzo is that leader.
Described by members as a man of team spirit, leadership sagacity, visionary outlook, and determined drive, Ariguzo has redefined what it means to lead an alumni association. Under his watch, ECOL ’88 has moved from being just a WhatsApp group of old boys to a strong, structured, and responsive brotherhood where members’ inputs count and probity is the watchword.
What makes Ariguzo exceptional is his rare blend of capacity and humility. He is a versatile businessman with vast interests in various sectors – a man who has seen it all in the world of enterprise. Yet, humility remains his greatest asset. He does not lord it over his classmates; he listens. He does not impose; he consults. He believes in his classmates and thinks more of how to drive the Association to the greatest heights than of personal gain.

Many leaders seek followers; Ariguzo builds teams. Many leaders talk down; he lifts up. His leadership idiosyncrasies – his attention to detail, his insistence on accountability, his open-door policy, and his ability to galvanize men of diverse backgrounds and temperaments – are unparalleled.
Under his leadership, ECOL ’88 has witnessed unprecedented growth. The Association has become more cohesive, more financially transparent, and more impactful. Members who had lost interest have returned. Confidence in leadership has been restored. That is why the Enugu 2026 AGM, which coincides with the 10th Anniversary, has attracted such massive turnout and even corporate endorsements – a first in the history of the Set. It is a testament to the credibility that Ariguzo’s name commands.
In appreciating him, ECOL ’88 Unique Men are not just praising a man; they are reaffirming their vote of absolute confidence on his unparalleled, purposeful, and exceptional leadership. They are saying that in Ariguzo, they have found a leader who can take ECOL ’88 – the largest Set in Emmanuel College Owerri – to the promised land.
Sir Emeka Ariguzo, Ph. D., holds the ace. He holds it not in his pocket but in his heart – the ace of service, of sacrifice, and of sincere commitment to his classmates.
As ECOL ’88 celebrates 10 years, we celebrate you – Emeka Ariguzo. May your leadership continue to inspire.
Congratulations, Unique National Coordinator!
