Don’t complain about the worsened economy if you sold your vote – Banky W
Musician, Banky W who is contesting to represent Eti-Osa at the Federal House of Representatives on the ticket of the Modern Democratic Party (MDP) says electorate who receive money and material gains in exchange of their votes have no moral right to complain about the economy since they brought the mayhem upon themselves and the nation as a whole through their selfish acts.
Speaking against vote buying on Sahara TV, the politician said there was the need for the electorate to realize the danger it poses to the country and vote and vote for aspirants who are competent and have the interest of the populace at heart.
He said: “We are counting on the fact that Nigerians know what is going on, they are not fooled easily anymore. Even the poorest among us understand this game, they understand that every four years, politicians come along and give them money to cast their vote and that is the last time they will see them till four years later.”
He continued: “We are trying to educate people and say that we can’t do the same thing and expect different results. If they are going to vote for a politician because he gave 20k, then don’t complain that things are hard because you mortgaged your piece of the country by going that route.”
Bankole Willington, as the musician is known in real life urged all to exercise their political right for the betterment of the country.
He argued that the refusal of an adult to exercise his/her franchise is detrimental to the progress of the Nigeria.
“When you make an allotment in this room for 10 people to vote and one person shows up, you have just created the perfect scenario for anybody to come along and play with the numbers.”
