Celebration as Basil Maduka Fetes Owerri Women At August Meeting

This year’s August meeting could be described as the best for the women of Owerri zone as a business mogul and political leader, Hon. Basil Maduka celebrated 2024 August meeting with the women of Owerri zone.
The August meeting celebration which took place at Okpodim, Ezinihite Mbaise over the weekend was remarkable as women from the nine local government areas of Owerri zone came in there thousands to celebrate this years August meeting.
Speaking at the occasion, Maduka said that August meeting is part of Igbo tradition which dates back to time immemorial adding that it is a period the women of each community discusses the way forward and development of their communities.
He said that the women also uses the opportunity to solicit for funds from their illustrious sons for the development of their communities .
The Ezinihite Mbaise born business man and philanthropist, pointed out that women are veritable accessories for development in Igbo land adding that he decided to appreciate them this year for their role in family and community building.
The women who attended the occasion could not hold their joy as they received expensive wrappers, blouses and monetary gifts from Hon Basil Maduka.
The women while appreciating their host urged him to vie for the senate position of Owerri zone assuring that they will support him and also galvanize their children, husbands, brothers and sister to vote for him insisting that he will represent the zone very well.
However, some the women urged Maduka to contest for governorship of the state so that his magnanimity will sprade across the state while pointing out that he is a man with a large heart. They also pointed out that his leadership acumen is what Imo needs at this point in time.
Responding, Maduka thanked the women, for calling on him to contest in the next election while assuring them that he will consider plea.
The highlight of the occasion was a match pass organized by the women to honour and assure Maduka of their solidarity..
