Association of Imo State Commercial Drivers Demands Construction of Modern Motor Parks

Association of Imo State Commercial Drivers, AISCD, has called on Governor Emeka Ihedioha to develop Modern Motor Parks in the state in order to decongest traffic on the roads while stressing how appalling the proliferation of illegal motor parks has liter the state and disrupting free movement for over eight years which results to crisis.
The leadership of Association of Imo State Commercial Drivers made the call when they paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary to Imo State Government, Barrister Uche Onyeaguocha, at his Office in Owerri last Friday.
The AISCD State President, Comrade Gregory Chikereuba, who disclosed to the SGI that the transport sector in Imo state lacks Motor Parks, Bus-Stop Signs as well as Bus-Stand thereby causing problem in the transportation system in the State, said the association is calling on the state government to modernize the transport system.
“We want the government to develop modern motor parks. On the inception of the PDP led government, AISCD wrote proposal/recommendation letter on the need to transform the transport sector. AISCD can develop modern motor parks in Imo if the government can allow and support us even financially”
AISCD regretted that “since the demolition of Motor Parks during military era, drivers suffers so much loading their vehicles by the road side which had posed serious challenges to previous governments in the State”, Comrade Chikereuba expressed.
The commercial vehicle drivers while praising governor Emeka Ihedioha for appointing Hon Uche Onyeaguocha as SGI, described him as a man of integrity who exudes meekness and boldness, remarking they would always support the PDP led government to rebuild the state for the good of all.
The SGI, Barrister Uche Onyeaguocha, who thanked the association for the courtesy visit, told them that government will always support them, urging them to join hands in rebuilding the state.
Among the members who paid the visit were S.C Odika, Secretary, Comrade Jonathan Nnorom, PRO, Igwe Chibuzo, member, Ojukuwu Henry Ahamefula, Taskforce, Bassey Imah, Financial Secretary,Onyewuchi Akamadu, Assistant PRO, Stanley Chibuzo Akika, State Operations, Comrade Sunday Asiegbu, Emog Unakalamba, Leader of the group who gave the votes of thanks, praying that God strengthens the PDP led government to succeed while meeting the needs of the people.
They added that they will always support the Governor’s policy on rebuilding Imo State for the good of the people.
