TSF Donates ₦1m to Imo Community for Repair, Maintenance of Transformer

In lifting the financial burden of repairing and maintenance of their damaged transformer, the
Umuekwerede and Umuezelechi communities of Umuoree Eziudo in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA of Imo State have last Wednesday received the THE STRIVAD FOUNDATION (TSF) Rural Community Development Support Grant.

In his address during the official presentation of the one million Naira grant to the communities held at the TSF Programs Office Owerri, the Founder and President of THE STRIVAD FOUNDATION, HRtn. Amb High Chief Dr. Uche Iro, JP said, “The Foundation is pleased to present to you a donation of the sum of ₦1, 000, 000 to support you towards the repair and maintenance of the faulty electricity transformer serving the community”

“The Foundation calls for unity and cooperation among the citizenry of the village. Local politics, personal interests and unnecessary divisions should never be allowed to stand in the way of community development or discourage well-meaning individuals and philanthropists from supporting the village”.

The Director of Programs Development of TSF, Dr. Tobias Nwokocha who represented the Founder and President reminded every member of Umuekwerede and Umuezelechi that what they build and own together, they must protect and preserve together.

“It is our sincere hope that this contribution will help restore electricity to the community and further strengthen the spirit of unity, responsibility and progress among the people of Umuezelechi and Umuekwerede village and the entire Eziudo community at large”.

Nwokocha pointed out, “This donation was funded by Amb. High Chief Dr. Uche Iro as part of his commitment towards enhancing rural community development accross Nigeria. This is in addition to his pevious significant contribution towards the complete refurbishment of the same transformer a few years back. His commitment to the progress and development of rural communities in Nigeria especially to his own native community remains strong and unwavering”.

“The Founder appealed to the community to take proper care of the transformer after its repair. The Transformer is a valuable community asset, and its protection and maintenance should be a collective responsibility. He emplored the Electricity Committee of the village who is entrusted with the responsibilty of seeing to it that the Transformer Repair/Maintenance project is successfully executed, to endevour to deliver on their mandate in a selfless manner and without falling into the temptation of denting their image because of money. In that way, they would have succeeded in writing their names in gold within the echelons of the community”.

Presenting the one million naira TSF Rural Community Development Support Grant to the village, the TSF Global Associate, Major Wilson Osuagwu called on the village to make appropriate and judicious use of the grant and ensure they make the Foundation proud by repairing and maintaining the damaged transformer for effective use by the village. “Posterity will always remember TSF for her community development efforts”.

In his remarks, the visibly elated chairman of the electricity committee of Umuekwerede and Umuezelechi, Engr. Chima Ukoha who confirmed the receipt of the one million naira noted that the grant will be deployed for the purpose for which it’s given.

He expressed confidence that the committee would deliver with despatch and urged the Founder and President of TSF not to relent in his philanthropic gestures that have lifted the cause of humanity in the society especially in his hometown.
