UNIZIK Makes History Matriculate 9,000 Students
With the increasing number of applicants for university admission, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, on Saturday, matriculated a record-breaking 9,000 students for the 2018/2019 academic session.

Addressing the new students and their parents, Professor Joseph Eberendu Ahaneku, the institution’s vice chancellor, said the university under his administration had pursued goals to make it great. Ahaneku said the school pursued its greatness in several areas.
These, he listed, included security and peace of the university; promotion of culture of academic excellence and raising the international profile of the university.
In addition, he said the university used its internally generated revenue to provide adequate infrastructure in the form of classrooms, laboratories, libraries as well as hostels that were befitting of a university of the highest international standards.
The university, he noted, also caters for indigent students by providing congenial learning environment which included work-aid scheme and group personal insurance scheme and well-equipped hostels.
However, Ahaneku advised the students that to succeed in their academic pursuit, they must abide by the rules and regulations guiding the University and human success.
These, he listed, as payment of their school fees; attendance to lectures and avoidance of examination malpractices.
Also, those who came in with forged certificates would be expelled while cultism will not be tolerated, he concluded.
